Hope Town, Bahamas

The village

Hope Town is a small city in the Bahamas, located in the north of the island of Elbow Cay in the Abacos. This is one of the 32 districts of the Bahamas. It brings together the islands of Elbow Cay, Cay Tilloo, Lynyard Cay, Lubbers Quarters, Guana Cay, Man-O-War Cay and a few other small islands.

Elbow Cay is a long barrier island located in the Bahamas 4 mile northeast off the larger islands known as the Abacos. Located far enough to discourage visitors’ weekend, yet still easily accessible by Marsh Harbour airport (the third largest city in the Bahamas), the island offers beauty and comfort without development. It is private without being isolated. With a population of year hundreds of people, founded in 1785, is the largest Hopetown and is clearly the most picturesque village in the Bahamas. The harbor and its famous lighthouse, which must be toured are incredibly beautiful. The picturesque houses, brightly reflect the days easier. Motor vehicles are restricted to the city, the streets are quiet and a pleasure to walk. There are excellent restaurants, grocery stores, shops and even a museum.
